We totally caved!!! A few days before the 18-week ultrasound this past week, J and I decided we couldn't stand not knowing if I was carrying a boy or girl. Even with the neutral nursery already in the works, we just had to know....and were we ever surprised that it is a precious GIRL!! It was so amazing seeing her little features during the ultrasound - it appears as though she has long, skinny legs! She was curled up so tightly like a little peanut, that the pictures were trickier to obtain than most. The doctor said everything looks healthy, but wants me to come back in a month to get some better shots. Of course, I'm not complaining - any chance I can get to see her I will! 

Even though we didn't wait to find out the baby's sex, it was one of the most memorable and special days yet! Instead of finding out during the ultrasound, we had the technician put the results in an envelope. Over a romantic dinner at the Melting Pot, we opened the envelope to reveal the wonderful news. Of course one of the first things out of Jason's mouth was "This means I'm out-numbered now," and "I should probably start looking for a shot gun to prepare for when she starts to date!" Of course, we are both ecstatic and praise the Lord for this little angel! We cannot wait to meet our daughter....almost half way there!

Second Trimester Time!

Well, I finally made it to the second trimester!! It was a looong 14 weeks, but I managed to complete the first trimester without any complications (besides going to bed at 8:30 every night!). My energy is picking up very slowly. As most of you know, though, I wasn't graced with a "full tank" prior to pregnancy! Today we got to hear the heartbeat again and follow-up with the Dr on all the lab work completed at the 10 week check-up. Everything looks great and the hearbeat is still pumping strong at 163 beats/minute. To add to the good news, I felt our little one move today for the first time! It was a feeling I will never forget, as most mothers can relate. I'm looking forward to feeling more movement in the upcoming weeks! God is Good!

The Miracle of Life Begins

July 15, 2010 is a day we will hold dear to our hearts. As we were getting ready to send Jason off to Africa for a medical missions, we discovered the good news - we were going to be parents! Overjoyed, ecstatic and completely in awe of God's goodness were just a few emotions we felt.

The Lord has poured out his kindness on me, for he truly knows how much we can handle. The first trimester proved not to be as bad as I thought  - no nausea or upset stomach, for which I am very thankful! We were able to see our little one in an ultra-sound at 6 weeks and again around 9 weeks. It's amazing how fast he/she grows! At my 10 week check-up, baby's heart was beating at a solid 184 beats/minute. Hearing the heartbeat of your child is the beginning of true love. We praise the Giver of Life everyday for this little miracle!
